Embolus and infarct : Embolus is clot migration to pulmonary artery causing clinical symptoms. Lung infarct means death or necrosis of lung tissue. Pulmonary embolus is only occasionally associated with infarct due to double blood supply.

May go together: Pulmonary clot from elsewhere= pulmonary embolism can kill some lung and be pulmonary infarction occasionally an infection cn also kill lung tissue.

Pulmonary embolism: PE is clot in the pulmonary artery, which will lead to blocking in blood supply to the lungs leading to a pulmonary infarct . So pulmonary infarct is a result of pulmonary embolism .
