Folic acid: It depends 'what' you are taking the folic acid for... If you're concerned about preventing neural tube defects in an unborn baby, then probably a large dose like 5 mg a day is helpful. Most of my patients are on 1 mg a day. Remember folic acid comes from plants that have FOLiage (leaves) - so anything green with leaves will have the natural vitamin.
