A member asked:

Which type of surgeries would be performed to separate conjoined twins?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Varies: Depends on the degree and site of joining. It can be as simple as a skin tube with a few vessels in it, to sharing internal organs and fusion of the crest of the skulls. The surgery to separate each in creases in complexity and sometimes would require the sacrifice of one for instance if there were only one brain or one heart.
