A member asked:

When conjoined twins are separated and survive the surgery do they still have the same average life span as would a baby born un conjoined?

Depends: Often conjoined twins share organs and other structures that are vital for living a normal life. It would depend on how they are conjoined. Generally their life expectancy would be lower and moreso in 1 twin. Please ask your pediatric surgeon for guidance. He/she would be the best to know. All the best with this difficult dilemma.
