No: No, not really normal. You have a "staph" infection. So the question is whether or not the bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) will be sufficient to cure it. There is a blood test called Crp that usually is used to show how your infection is responding to the antibiotics. If any question, the expertise of an infectious disease specialist can be helpful.
