When we yawn: the facial muscles surrounding our eyes pull tight. This may put pressure on the lacrimal glands--the glands under our upper eyelids where tears are produced. They constantly release tears to keep our eyes moistened. The tightened muscles when yawning forces tears out that were being stored for later. It's another amazing way our bodies protect us! Stay well:)
