Crying can be: emotionally cathartic. Studies show that v tension & negative affect occur during crying. Crying may suppress contentious behavior. Crying may also serve to ^ empathy in others & to solidify interpersonal bonds. Many people feel better both physically & emotionally after crying. However, this is not always the case across cultures & situations.
