4 weeks. Believe it.: Only a few companies make most of the HIV tests used worldwide. The window period for the combo test (also called duo or 4th generation test) is the same everywhere, 4 weeks. That a particular health department or agency takes a conservative stance and promotes longer periods is a decision based on legalities, politics, and social context. I can't say why some agency in Malaysia says 6 months.
