OCD: Diagnosing OCD requires a clinical evaluation by a mental health professional. Ask your pcp for a referral. See: http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publications/obsessive-compulsive-disorder-when-unwanted-thoughts-take-over/index.shtml I hope this helps.

The main way: that OCD is diagnosed is by evaluation/interview. If the psychiatrist or therapist is unclear on the diagnosis, further testing can be performed for better accuracy, however, a patient with obsessions, compulsions, and symptoms that interfere with life are the mainstay of diagnosis of the illness. If you are concerned, please have an evaluation and initiate treatment. Good luck!
