Had 2nd toe shortened b/c of crossover.6 months ago.can see and feel screw through skin on top of toe.causes throbbing pain at night.what next?thx

The screw: should be removed.... 6 months is sufficient time for solid healing.....go back to the surgeon who did the original surgery! Hope this helps! Dr Z

Possible removal: Retained hardware can occasionally cause irritation at the surgical site which induces pain and discomfort. Removal is essential if that continues. I recommend being seen in person or virtually for a proper diagnosis and further treatment options.
