Fluid and blood pool: Varicose veins can cause pain when we are still due to pooling of fluid in veins and tissue. Elevation helps but takes time. It does not prevent occurrence of symptoms long term. Compression stockings can be real helpful on day to day basis to prevent pooling. Eventually may need vein ablation after a proper evaluation. Hope this helps.

V V's/Leg Pain: There are many causes of leg pain and your varicose veins may not be in any way related to your leg pain. See a vein specialist for a full venous evaluation including a venous ultrasound looking for venous reflux. Varicose veins can cause a lot of symptoms but rest pain is usually not one of them and neither is pain with weight baring.
