A member asked:

Blood tests positive but biopsy and urease test negative for h.pylori. is this normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The blood test for: H. Pylori checks for antibodies against the bacterium. Antibodies are proteins that help your body fight off infection and they may be detectable indefinitely, even for a lifetime. Biopsy & urease tests check for presence of an active infection. (+) H. Pylori blood test with negative biopsy & urease suggests you had the infection in the past but that it's not currently active.
