How long can spotting last during perimenopause and is it normal? i have had 3 colposcapies in the last 10 years and they have all been normal.

Spotting @ 55: Perimenopause can cause lightened or absent periods with spotting. However, endometrial cancer also presents in the same way. Colposcopies are not the prime way to assess the endometrium as it looks at the endocervical canal and cervix itself and not the endometrium. An endometrial biopsy will tell you and your MD much more about why you are spotting if this is worrisome.
