Spotting @ 55: Perimenopause can cause lightened or absent periods with spotting. However, endometrial cancer also presents in the same way. Colposcopies are not the prime way to assess the endometrium as it looks at the endocervical canal and cervix itself and not the endometrium. An endometrial biopsy will tell you and your MD much more about why you are spotting if this is worrisome.
