Pharyngitis: Most pharyngitis starts off as a viral condition. In some cases, it will progress to a bacterial infection, which is the point at which antibiotics can be helpful. It is possible to get a bacterial infection without tonsils. You may have had a partially resistant infection that responded partly to the antibiotics, then flared again, affecting the opposite side. May need more Rx. See MD.
