Pain management: Pain management specialists may have backgrounds in several different medical specialties. Typically they are physician's trained in medical and cognitive behavioral therapies for pain management or in procedural management (nerve blocks, pain pumps or peripheral nerve stimulator placement) or they may be trained in both. They should be fellowship trained and board certified in their specialty.
