I am on lexapro (escitalopram) 15mg for gad.i am on it 4 years.can i switch to an amityripiline as i find them a lot better.do i have to wean off lexapro (escitalopram). many thank?

But you need to verify that a higher dose of Lexapro (escitalopram) wouldn't be better, since Lexapro (escitalopram) generally avoids side effects that amitriptyline usually has.

Not mandatory: Although it will take 4-6 weeks to get out of your system , I still think it is a good idea to taper the Lexapro (escitalopram) over a two week period. Keep in mind that the amitryptiline may not be as effective for anxiety.
