Lymph node: The inflamed lymph node is your body trying to defend itself from invasion due to virus, bacteria, or other source of infection. The antibiotics help, but your own lymph system is helping to destroy and carry off the killed bacteria. See your doctor if it does not resolve in a couple of weeks.
