A member asked:

Is it normal for a reactivation of epstein-barr (and associated chronic fatigue) to last >12 months? or can this be caused by something else?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Chronic Recurrant EB: EBV can reactivate with chemo, but in nature its more controversial because tests do not help us much. In a study in nature (Lake Tahoe area) many poeple with the "yuppy flu" had highly elevated blood EBV component levels compared to a non-symptomatic population. Most of these, often disabled, improved in two years. Some have periodic reactivation or chronic symptoms. Lots of variations seen here.
