BV? Trich? Other?: Vaginal discharge with strong odor usually means bacterial vaginosis, an overgrowth of mostly normal bacteria. Trichomonas, an STD, also can do it, but both BV and trich are easily missed with typical STD testing. Whether the painful sex is the same problem depends on details: where is the pain? Do you have any sores? Return to your doctor for further evaluation and testing. Good luck!
