LIFE and DEATH: They are both "arhythmias" abnormal rhythms of the heart however the A fib (originating in the atrial chambers) is treatable ..usually with medication or electric conversion the latter is ventricular and is FATAL unless stopped with electric current (Cadioversion) The latter is one of the most common causes of sudden death in young people! Alive vs dead: Simply put, you can live with Afib but not with vfib. both are irregular heartbeats but Afib is a very common irregular heartbeat that many live with daily without worry. V-fib on the other hand is not able to sustain life and is the dramatic moment on TV where you might see patients shocked by defibrillator.
