Broken blood vessel?: This sounds like a broken blood vessel, which can be quite painful when it occurs under skin that is tightly attached to the tissues below. It can happen from minor injury that just happens to hit the vessel in a certain way; even clapping can do it. If that's what this is, the pain will be pretty much gone within a few hours, although it will take a few days for the bruise to fade.
