A member asked:

The lower part of my neck is swollen. could that be a thyroid issue? we just got back from a long road trip. i didn't know if that is inflammation natural from sitting in a car for a couple days.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doctor can check: If it's a thyroid problem, then the car trip would just be a coincidence. However, people who sit a lot on any kind of trip may get blood clots. The doctor will likely check to see if there is a blood clot that might be causing neck swelling. A tumor can also block blood flow, and cause neck swelling (and the car trip would again be a coincidence). It's time to see the doctor now, and not wait.
