Elbow pain: If there was no obvious acute injury, the discomfort may be an acute tendonitis or olecranon bursitis which responds to rest, ice applications, and taking of antiinflammatories like Advil or Aleve (naproxen). If increasing redness and warmth develops an infection has to be ruled out and an examination by a physician would be urgently needed.
