Good to discuss: It is a good idea to discuss with a licenced counsellor about issues in the past that may be contributing to your mental health presently. Some folks are more comfortable with the same sex therapist or councillor, in which case you can easily request for achange. Given the limited resources in such mental health facilities, it may be a challenge and a learning curve for both. Feel better!

Your choice: I find it is a waste of your time and effort when you avoid sharing the things that are troubling you.It's like having one laceration stitched but hiding another that might be in a "private"place.Either share the issue with the therapist or find one you can do this with. It is easy to just talk & act like you're working on things, but unless you do the hard work,you won't make the gains you need.
