Wine rash: Some individuals develop flushing after drinking wine, and some develop hives. And it happens with certain wine, mostly red wine. It has to do with the tannin and alcohol content of the wine.

Rash from red wine: Rashes or hives from red wine can be the result of sensitivity to sulfites, tannins or histamines in the wine. Also, rosacea can flare with drinking any kind of wine or alcohol. That would lead to flushing and increased facial redness.
