A member asked:

If you're hips are wide before pregnancy are they more likely to get wider during pregnancy or less likely to get wider during pregnancy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Wide track for hips: A former car manufacturer, Pontiac, made several commercials featuring their "wide track" stance. The width of your bony pelvis and hips is presently a constant. However, pregnancy will allow the ligaments between the pelvic bone joints to be flexible enough to allow them to separate at delivery. Post partum those changes reverse, and if the hips get wider at that point, it is usually due to fat.
