A member asked:

I have a cold sore , is there anything to worry about ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: These are common. Often the trigger is unknown. The most common is sun damage [UV]. Also provoked by fever or by minor injury to the area. Best therapy for occasional attacks is Valacyclovir 2G taken immediately at first tingling [prodrome] of next attack. It is a prescription but entirely safe. If not treated the first day, any treatment is a waste of money. Will heal in about a week anyway.
