Take meds: Many meds are fine depakote can cause a lot of problems. Some people feel very well during pregnancy and can decrease their meds. Be in close touch with your psychiatrist.

Discuss!: Among the many medications that are effective treatments for bipolar, lithium is generally considered relatively safe; Depakote and tegretol not however, bipolar itself, especially during and after preganancy, is a serious condition with risks of its own. So, every woman with bipolar who is or will become pregnant should discuss the options carefully with her OB and a skilled psychiatrist.
