Why Treated?: Cervical Ectropion is usually a normal, asymptomatic variation of the cervix, rarely requiring treatment unless vaginal discharge or post-coital (after sex) bleeding is very bothersome. The 1st treatment is usually to stop OCPs (like Yaz) which are often the cause of this phenomenon, Otherwise electrocautery is performed to ablate the bleeding vessels. Silver nitrate is not as effective.

Not usually: Cervical ectropion is a normal anatomic variant and does not usually require treatment. Silver nitrate may cause some discharge but not heavy bleeding and clotting.
