Doesn't compute...: This is surprising advice from an ObG doctor; I suspect you misunderstood. Neither viral gastroenteritis ("stomach flu") nor straining from vomiting can cause vaginal bleeding. Brown discharge could just be leftover blood, but both bleeding and abnormal discharge could mean an infection, including an STD if at risk. Get examined professionally, especially if symptoms continue or at STD risk.
