Sleep apnea: Your neighbor needs to see a physician who specializes in sleep medicine. A physician needs to diagnose Central/Idiopathic versus Obstructive sleep apnea. For obstructive sleep apnea, the most common type, a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine would help keep his airways open. A myriad of health problems can be caused by sleep apnea. Cpap: The standard of care in severe OSA is cpap. There are other therapies and surgical treatments, but cpap is the gold standard.
