Joint pain: 43 year old gentleman with hand pain. Is the pain in your dominant hand? What's your occupation? Pain in the metacarpophalangeal joint can be from many causes. If the joint is not swollen you may have some osteoarthritis in the joint but you are pretty young. Get a physical exam to make sure. Fluid or swelling in the joint can be tapped and examined to find gout and other problems. Good luck.
