Amaurosis Fugax: Intermittent total blindness (i.e. no light perception) for any period of time is suggestive of a vascular occlusion, unlikely though it might be in a 28 year old. Being very blurry is not the same thing, and could be explained by the rapid fluid shifts in a violent gastroenteritis. A complete eye examination with dilation is likely to identify any anatomic variations and provide reassurance.
