Fructose: Try to avoid the use of refined sugars, if at all possible, replacing them by the intake of natural sugars (from fruits for example). It is not clear if your question refers to someone who already has been diagnosed with diabetes, or just would like to prevent it. When somebody is already on treatment for it, every dietary change should be ideally consulted with the treating physician.

Low carb: The best way to control and significantly reverse a lot of symptoms of diabetes is to completely avoid starch and processed sugar. Make sure you eat 2 to 4 ounces of lean protein per meal and try to eat mostly vegetables and some fruit. I recommend 2 cups of fruit and 8 cups of vegetable a day in three meals and two low sugar snacks like nuts or green veggies. Make sure you consult your physician if you're on medications for diabetes or any prescription medication.
