Active Shooter: According to the Department of Homeland Security, it is important to be prepared for such an event. In the event of a shooting, determine the best course of action-evacuate or hide. Find cover or concealment and leave your belongings behind. If running away from an active shooter one should zig zag to be a more difficult target. Run, hide, fight. Call law enforcement: Law enforcement agencies such as the police and fire department are better sources for this type of information since doctors are not usually trained in this subject.

Straight and fast: Hopefully you or I will never face such a situation. My advice would be to run straight and fast towards any form of cover you see. Obviously some degree of "luck" will play a roll. I personally don't believe I would try and zigzag as that would delay me in getting away from scene. I would imagine in such a situation "instinct" would take over anyway regardless of a preconceived strategy.

Terrorist: Find something to hide behind by CRAWLING. You'll present a less visible target, and give them less to shoot at.

Neither: You should be prepared at all times for something like this. Take a gun course, obtain a concealed carry permit and practice shooting. Then take cover and return fire, the only thing that they will understand.
