Pretty common: Various studies cite about 1/40 normal individuals are carries of one CF gene. They have no illness, and will not have a CF child unless their spouse is also a carrier. With 2 carriers 1/4 risk of CF per pregnancy would be possible.Carrier detection studies are often offered to someone who has a cf patient in their family.
