A member asked:

If both parents are "carriers" of a cystic fibrosis allele, what are the odds of passing it on?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

50%/time: Carrier parents pass either the normal or affected gene at equal(50%) frequency any time they conceive. In a million random parings, 25% would result in cf, 25% in non-carrier & 50% carriers. In practice, the parents could produce all cf, all carrier or all non- carrier kids.
