How can post traumatic stress disorder differ from acute stress discorded?

Length of time: The difference between "post-traumatic stress" (ptsd) and "acute stress disorder" is the amount of time after the traumatic event according to the psychiatric diagnostic manual (dsm-iv-tr soon to be dsm-5 in about a month). Acute stress disorder is a traumatic reaction that happens within approx. 30 days of the event. Ptsd is considered to happen after a longer period of time.

It is the length of: Symptoms. How long after the traumas relates to delayed reaction. It should be noted that in a combat scenario, the time clock begins after leaving the combat zone ( the trauma itself).
