Taper slowly: A slow taper is key. May patients tolerate a 50% reduction for 3-5 days, then another 50% reduction for 3-5 days, etc. If withdrawal symptoms occur, the dose can be increased to relieve those symptoms and then a slow taper can begin again. Your physician will help you do this safely.
