Dirty wound : You have to wash your finger properly. Make sure to go see your doctor. You may need the wound examined for infection. Also you may need a tetanus shot.

Soap and water: Little cuts of muddy fingers: wash with soap and water as soon as you can. Dirt in cuts has been around as long as we have roamed the earth. Infections 5 days out usu. have increasing swelling, redness and pain. In Latin, before time of Christ this was "tumor, rubor and dolor." If this is you, time to go to an urgent care to get a look see. Also yellow pus is bad and needs attn.
