You are right: Almost all cosmetics have them. Parabens are used to stop bacterial and fungal growth in cosmetics and even as a food additive! There is no evidence to suggest that they are cancer causing and therefore is still allowed to be used. U can read more about them on Wikipedia and other sites. Even paraben free cosmetics have become available to take advantage of this common concern.

Not necessarily: Every person is unique, and may have a unique sensitivity to any chemical additive in a product applied to the skin. For most, this is seen as an allergic skin eruption like that to some plants.Many docs do "patch"tests to identify those with such sensitivity.
