Yes: Fever is your body's response to foreign invaders whether bacterial or viral. A good high fever makes it harder for the infection to grow and spread in your child's . Respect the fever. If your child is uncomfortable or in pain, then giving acetaminophen or ibuprofen, is reasonable. If your child is otherwise happy, encourage fluids to reduce any dehydration and leave the fever to do its work.

Discomfort vs fever: I like to look at comfort vs fever on this one.Low grade fevers ( can certainly be ignored and doing so can slow progress of some viral illness and shorten them.When a kid acts "sick"enough that I know they are feeling bad, I use Ibuprofen or tylenol (acetaminophen) as a comfort measure.(at any temperature) They also work on the fever, but that is less important to me.
