A member asked:

Taking levothyroxine for 3 months for hypothyroidism and goitre. struggling to sleep due to discomfort and tenderness. is this normal for time frame?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Goiter hypothyroid: Discomfort and tenderness..... of what? The thyroid? Levothyroxine should not cause you discomfort, unless you are taking too much, and it is causing you to be hyperthyroid. Hyperthyroidism can make it hard to sleep, along with palpitations, heat intolerance, tremor, etc. If the thyroid is tender, you may have thyroiditis. Talk to your doctor about these symptoms.
