Nursing & menses: How long it takes a woman to get her period after birth if she's nursing is variable. The amount the baby nurses comes into play, so if the baby is nursing a lot less once solids are started, the mom could start menstruating again. From personal experience, i started menstruating 1 1/2 years after birth with both of my kids.
