Vitreous separation: The two symptoms of floaters and a flash of light are highly suggestive of a posterior vitreous separation, and a dilated retinal examination is strongly recommended to exclude the possibility of a retinal tear or impending retinal detachment. Treated early with a laser procedure, the condition should not progress, but a symptomatic PVD can presage a retinal detachment. Have it checked pronto!
