Psyllium husk.: Psyllium husk is safe to use in the long term as a fiber and nutrient supplement. My concern with it is more the fact that it's easy. Remember that men need no more than 50 grams of fiber daily - it's easy to start sprinkling a lot of that stuff on everything. I'd rather you get the majority of your fiber from your regular meals and add Psyllium husk to oatmeal, salads and smoothies for example
