A member asked:

Are all mris without contrast t1 weighted? how do i know?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Types of MR Images: This is a T1 image. It is used for fine detail among other things. T2 images are also done routinely and show fluid or water in tissues. IV contrast shows up only on T1 images. On T1 images water is grey, on T2 it is white. There are also many other scan sequences (types). The physics of image production would blow your mind, sort of like in the picture (the top of the skull has been removed).
