Nonspecific: Your symptoms are nonspecific at this time and could be due to a viral,bacterial or parasitic infection, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, lactose or gluten intolerance to name some common causes. Avoid harsh roughage and take kaopectate (kaolin and pectin) for now. If symptoms persist your physician will take a history,examine you and order appropriate tests in order to diagnose and treat you.

GASTROENTERITIS: Acute onset of symptoms is most consistent with gastroenteritis. You need to rest , fast for 8-12 hrs then clear liquids as tolerated. You need full exam and lab screen to rule out infection. If symptoms persist abdominal US or CT to rule out appendicitis. If it is viral it will resolve in 24-72 hrs. If fever or pain worsens seek ER eval.
