Get strep culture!!!: The rapid strep text has a FALSE NEGATIVE RATE of up to 30%. Hospitals are required by regulatory agencies to send all negative rapid streps for confirming strep cultures. This isn't done in many outpatient settings & is a serious failure because strep is missed & complications develop. Insist on a strep culture, not a throat culture which isn't necessary, is expensive & takes 4 days. See comment
