A member asked:

My 3 year old had a dry cough, now wet, 2 days ago. now her temp has reached 103. not herself and not eating but she is drinking. just a cold?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Could be pneumonia: Children can get a "cold" about once a month, especially during the winter months. However, in a 3 yr old who starts with a cold and then has a fever of 103, it is important to take her in to be examined and evaluated for pneumonia, or even influenza- "Flu". The Flu can be treated if it is diagnosed within 48 hrs of developing a fever. In the mean time, make sure she is drinking fluids well.
